Pacific Palisades: Treehuggers

Los Angeles Mycologcial Society connects mushroom foragers in the highest form of play. Its diffuse network of scientists and enthusiasts guide community meetups to wander through the canyons, forests, and parking lots of Southern California in search of something new. Contrary to most foraging, the spectacular finds--both edible and not--are often only observed, leaving the rich ecosystem intact.    

Play is an emotional look at the order around us, leading with feelings like pleasure and surprise. This suspension of time enables us to consider interconnectedness from different angles. While community is not required in this process, it amplifies the joy.
